  1. I have the SilverCrest from Lidl, not this one specifically but the style, at the time it cost about 100 € although I say that it is not this model. I think it's perfect for those who want to start. It was given to me 10 years ago for my birthday when I started to get interested in making clothes and it is still the machine I use today. When I say "use" I mean daily use since I am in this business. I have made many different types of garments and although it is sometimes difficult it has not let me down. I have sewn gauze, cloths, cottons, satins, leatherette, etc. and also production runs of between 30-40 garments and it is still the champion.

Obviously there are much better machines that will make the job easier and faster but what I mean is that if you know how to handle it and take care of it and keep it in good condition it gives much more than it seems.

You have to wait for Lidl to bring out the offer. Until it does there is no other way to get hold of it.

They usually advertise it on television, putting posters in supermarkets 15 days before and in promotional brochures.

I have lost the instruction book and I am having a problem with the seam skipping stitch.

        • They sell one exactly the same in Carrefour, although it is not Silvercrest, it has another brand, but it is exactly the same. I've had the Lild one for a few years now and it's not bad. It cost me 69 €.

          • Hello Eugenia,

The truth is that we were totally unaware that Carrefour sold a machine similar to the one in Lidl. It could be, in fact, many products of different brands are bought wholesale and then they are renamed with the logo of the corresponding brand so it would not be unusual what you say. We'll keep an eye out for it.

            Thank you!

          • Encarna, which gas did you buy? The one from carrefour? Could you tell me brand and price please

          • I just bought the baratita of carrefour. 50 euros Bluesky brand

I was looking for something very basic to learn. It's not bad, it fulfills its basic functions but it drives me crazy that the thread does not stay taut properly. I think that's its fault. I've tried all tensions and nothing.

        • Hi Samara,

They should be able to send it to you but you will have to go to the Lidl supermarket where you bought it and tell them what happened. In the worst case they will tell you that they can't get it for you but they will give you your money back, at least that's how they should do it.

    • Hello Silvia,

By turning this dial you change the stitch length. The larger the number selected on the dial, the longer the stitch length.

What can happen to you is that as the first positions are very small lengths, you can hardly notice the difference visually.

      • Hi guys, I have the machine from Lidl, the silvercrest. I am a beginner in sewing and I love it. The problem I have is that the upper thread always breaks. I have checked a thousand times if it is well threaded, all correct. I changed the needle too. It's discouraging if you need an hour to sew 20 cm, because the thread always breaks. I noticed that it breaks if I have two fabrics to join and if I put it in reverse, it usually breaks where the needle is. The thread is not of poor quality either, so what can I do? What's wrong?

    • Hi Olga,

If your machine is not yet one year old and is damaged, it is best to make use of the warranty. To do this you can:

1 - Go to the Lidl supermarket where you bought the sewing machine. They will probably pick it up for you or give you direct contact details for the repair service.
2 - You can write to Lidl through their contact form
      3 - You can call the Lidl customer service number (902 243 222) from 9am to 8pm.

We recommend the first option as it is the most direct and will provide you with an immediate solution.

      Greetings!

    • Olga, first of all check if the bobbin holder is at the top left, which is the sewing position.
If it is to the right, which is the bobbin filling position, the machine does not sew.
It seems silly but my mother was unable to sew for two weeks until I discovered this problem.

        • Hi Inma,

The Silvercrest is more limited but of course it is a much cheaper machine than the Singer.

It depends a bit on your experience and needs. Both are good home sewing machines but the Singer is, in our opinion, more complete and it will be easier to find spare parts or accessories for it.

  10. Good morning. A Singer Tradition 2282, bought last year and recently commissioned. In normal sewing position, the needle is deflected to the left, could not be centered. The stitch selector, when set to normal sewing, deflects to the left, if you set it to overcasting then it is positioned in the centre and sews correctly. We think it may be related to the selector, because if you turn it a little it centers itself, but when you start sewing, it's wrong again. Can you help me? THANK YOU

    • Hi Alicia,

From what you say, you are moving the stitch selector dial. On it you can see the needle position, either in the center or to the right.

On page 39 of the instruction manual you can see reference to what I'm talking about. If the problem is not related to the thickness of the fabric, needle and stitch, you might want to check other aspects such as needle placement, needle plate, etc.

You can sew denim without any problem but we recommend you to change the needle and use a specific needle for denim or thick fabrics.

There are quite a few tutorials on the internet that give advice on sewing with denim fabrics, recommending pre-steam washes, teaching how to place the fabric on the machine and giving tricks like hammering with a nylon hammer to smooth out thicker seams.

With the right needle you won't have a problem. Keep in mind that denim fabric is harder and the needle that comes with the machine could get damaged as it is designed for thinner fabrics that are easier to pass through.

  23. I'm going to give myself a sewing machine for Christmas. We were waiting for Lidl's offer (it comes out tomorrow at 79€), as I've always heard that it's a wonderful machine, but after reading you I don't know what to do, as in aldy they have the Singer for 99€. Can you give me some guidance?

    • Hi Alex,

My name is Nacho and I am writing to you because of the comment you have left us on our sewing machines website.

For the small price difference between the Lidl machine and the Singer, we're going with the Singer basically because of the amount of spare parts and the ease of finding them. In addition to being Christmas, you can buy it for only 94,99€, hurry because tomorrow it will no longer be available.

      Greetings!

  24. Hello Nacho, I have a problem with the Silvercrest, I started to prepare my girl an angel costume and I do not think I get it, the machine has broken the needle (before it broke the thread), I have changed it with one that is not of the same brand and still breaks the thread and gets stuck at the bottom.
What do I have to do to it? I need it today
    Thank you

    • Hi Nicol,

The truth is that it is very strange what is happening to you and it is difficult to help you without seeing the machine live. If you think that everything is set up correctly, the best thing to do is to go to your Lidl or call the Silvercrest technical service so that they can help you better.

  25. Hello, I have had the lidl machine for 15 days and I have a doubt when trying it out. When I turn the stitch length selector to S2 I can't advance it, it stays in the middle of S1 and S2. Is this normal?

  26. Hello, the kings have brought me two sewing machines, the silvercrest and a singer promise 1409. I don't know which one to choose. I want it to sew pants and jeans bottoms and make some simple handicrafts. It's my first machine and I have to learn how to use it. Which one do you advise me?

    • Hi Nayr, in your case we would go with the Singer basically because it will be much easier for you to manage any warranty or find spare parts.

    • Hi Isabel,

You can exchange it if you have the purchase receipt and keep all the packaging. The only bad thing is that maybe now they don't have stock of the Singer but you can wait for Lidl to put it back on promotion or buy it through one of the links we have on the web.

        • Hi Jennifer,

We have looked at Lidl's online website and, as of today, the silvercrest machine does not appear. The only one that does appear is the Singer but it is listed as out of stock and at a higher price than you can get through the offer on our website.

  30. Good morning.
I want to buy my first sewing machine, and I have seen that Lidl have two models, singer and Silver Crest, which one do you recommend? When do the sales promotions usually go on sale? Is it possible to buy it on-line without being advertised?
    Thank you very much

    • Hi Karol,

The Silvercrest machine is cheaper than the Singer and for any warranty or spares issues, you'll be reliant on Lidl.

The Singer is a little more expensive but you have spare parts in any sewing machine shop and technical services throughout Spain, so it is a considerable advantage in the face of any possible problem.

You can buy it online, on our website you have a link to purchase it.

We don't know the dates of the promotions, sometimes it's every 2 or 3 months, sometimes every 6 months...it's good to keep an eye on the catalogue of offers. Also lately they always announce it on TV so it's easy to find out.

      Greetings!

I am a beginner, which machine would you recommend the Singer Tradition 2282 or the Singer Brilliance 6180?

    • Hi Mari,

I am writing to you because of the comment you have left on our sewing machine website.

Of the two Singer models that you propose, the most recommended for someone who starts in the world of sewing machines is the Singer Tradition, is a simple model but with everything you need to start and do work of all kinds.

When you are experienced enough, you can make the jump to the Brillnace 6180 which is much more complete and complex.

  33. Hello I have a machine silvercrest of those who sold red, to disassemble the pin of the press fabrics I have lost it I do not know how but I can not use it without is piece because I can not hook any press fabrics, I have called the technical service and no longer sell it to me because it is discontinued and only sell spare parts of the new. The machine works perfectly and now I throw it away for a piece that is worth 5 or 10 euros? I feel cheated and helpless, I will not buy anything from this brand again, I will go to first brands where I have no problem with the spare parts but they have screwed up the work I was doing and now I have to spend money on a new one. Scam in all rule

    • Wow, they've done a great job.

When did you buy the machine? I tell you this because the technical service is obliged by law to offer spare parts for 5 years from the date on which the machine ceases to be manufactured.

Do some research on the subject and if you meet the requirements, claim because they have to give you a solution. That if, sure it will be a slow process but if you go with the law in front of them, maybe they give in and you do not have to put claims of any kind.

  34. Hello, today I have used my new silvercrest machine for the first time. It works very well, the problem is that it stains my thread when sewing. I have put white thread and it comes out black, not at the bottom of the bobbin, but at the top. I think that it could be oil, which, being unused, dragged some remains. But I've sewed a lot, on top of old cloths and it doesn't solve the problem. It seems to stain less but it is still stained.
Could you give me a solution? I've already ruined one pair of trousers...
    Thank you

  38. I've had the Silvercrest sewing machine for 3 years now and it works great. I use it every day for sewing clothes and patchwork work. It's great to start sewing, as it has many functions that go beyond the basic ones. Of course, as you advance in this world of sewing we want more functions in the machine as in my case I need the alphabet for some of my work, so I just bought another sewing machine for these issues but I still use the Lidl because it works perfectly with any type of fabric, even leatherette or denim. It's important to take care of it, clean it and keep it in good conditions so that it stays like the first day.

  40. Hello, I bought my machine less than a month ago and I was very happy with it because it was very well spoken of. However, after sewing 12 masks it has started to make a lot of noise as if the mechanisms were out of sync and suddenly it stops (making noise as if it was jammed) but everything seems to be in place. You wait, it starts working again for a while and then it's back to the same thing.
A bit frustrating experience to be honest.

  42. Hi, I have just the machine in the picture. The upper thread tension is going frankly wrong. I have to sew at 0 and even then sometimes it gets too tight as you sew and puckers. It's a disaster.

  43. Hi Nacho,
I'm looking forward to buy a sewing machine to start sewing at home. Right now Lidl is promoting the SiverCrest but my interest is more towards the Singer Tradition 2282 from Lidl but I don't know if I should wait or not as I don't know if Lidl is still selling it.
Can you tell me if it is still on sale every year? And if so, do they release it several times a year or just once? If not, I would buy the SilverCrest they have on sale right now.

    Thank you in advance

    • Hi Eloisa,

The Singer machine is often available on their website but they remove it when they launch the Silvercrest so as not to step on the sales of one model with another.

Anyway, the Singer model is not exclusive to Lidl, you have it for sale in other places and at similar prices so if you do not want to wait, you can buy it.

As for which one to buy...I prefer the Singer because it's a little bit better but above all because Singer's technical service has nothing to do with Silvercrest's and in case of any problem or warranty, Singer is always much more helpful. Lidl doesn't respond badly, but it's more tedious from what other users have told us.

      Greetings!
